What is monitoring?

The Monitoring service monitors your resources for:

• Failures,

• Performance degradation, and

• Security issues.

As a managed service, we configure and deploy alarms for applicable resources, monitor them, and perform automated or manual remediation when applicable.

The operating agents of the Monitoring services generate alerts based on the Monitoring Configuration in your account. Monitoring Configuration refers to all the resource parameters in the account that create an alert.

The monitoring configuration of an account includes Alarm definitions, and Event Rules that generate the alert (alarm or event).
